Title of the subject: The design of process equipment

Learning outcomes: The graduate obtains theoretical basic for understanding strength function of technological equipment serving the storage and transmission of media in engineering, food and chemical industry. Acquire a deeper understanding of an internal laws affecting life and limit state of machines, understand the principle of philosophy of designing optimal systems.

Brief content of course: Lecture topics: 1. Introduction to the subject. Circular rings. 2. The rings of horizontal tanks. 3. Shells. 4. Membrane state of rotary-symmetrical loaded shell. 5. Membrane state of generally loaded rotary-symmetric shell. 6. Relocation the median line of shell for membrane state. 7. The edge disorders of membrane stress at a rotary-symmetrical loads. 8. The edge disorders in the contact of two thin cylinders of various stiffness. 9. The axially-symmetric shells. 10. General load on thin closed circular shell. 11. Stability of cylindrical shell. 12. The dynamic load and limit state. The vertical bulk tanks. 13. The design and check calculation of columns. Check of pedestal columns. Exercise topics: 1.
