Type of mobility: Study
Rating of Erasmus experience
I have no particular fears, just a few apprehensions. I’ve had bad experiences in the past, so I hope this stay abroad will reconcile me with going abroad! I’m looking forward to discovering the country and meeting new people.
My advice at this stage:
– go and see your mobility coordinator as soon as possible,
– take a close look at partner university websites.
I was warmly welcomed by TUKE’s international relations department. I was able to integrate easily; the culture isn’t that different, but you shouldn’t hesitate to reach out to others, to make the first move. I was able to adapt easily to the level of classes taught in English.
My advice at this stage: get an apartment in the center, if possible with a flat-share, as rents are high, but the cost of living is a little lower than in France. Take the opportunity to visit other countries, trains are free for students.
I had the opportunity to visit Croatia, Hungary and Poland. This semester finally reconciled me with going abroad! It was difficult to integrate with Slovaks without speaking Slovak outside university. But at the university, I now have many contacts in many different countries! The academic level is manageable coming from UTBM.
My advice at this stage: make sure you know what courses are available before you leave. Don’t hesitate to take the opportunity to travel and discover other countries!
